Pet Show - 2016 Best in Show winner Sizzle!

SIZZLE the four-year-old miniature daschund is no stranger to Kiama Show Pet class glory but this year he picked up the big one – Best in Show and a spot on the Robert Joske Memorial Trophy.

Dressing as a clown alongside Jamberoo siblings Ashley and Jacob Roulstone, Sizzle also collected his third successive Best Dressed gong.

Sizzle’s previous dress-up efforts were “Disco Daschund” and “Scuba Sizzle”

Helen Joske presented the trophy with the freshly-engraved shield on Wednesday, February 17.

The 2016 pet show was the third time the Joske family have sponsored the Pet Show with Helen’s daughter Merryn the driving force.

The perpetual trophy is in honour of Merryn’s late husband Robert.

Mrs Joske said Robert would have been delighted by the award.

“He was always very keen on animals,’’ she said. “We had nine boxers – one after the other. As soon as one died, we were out chasing another.’’

Mrs Joske said the family had seven dogs named Whiskey and the last two – females were named Miss Whiskey.

Pet show co-ordinator Bob Young said the 30 entrants in this year’s Pet Show class was outstanding given the wet weather.

“I could not believe how many came on a wet day,’’ Mr Young said. “We had 30 which was exceptional given the conditions that prevailed at the time.’’

Sizzle’s owner Ashley said the Pet Show was her favourite event of the Kiama Show.

“It’s great fun and I always like seeing what the other pets and owners dress up as.

Sizzle and Ashley’s name join Hugo Biancardi and (dog) Digby and Riley Delfino and (blue tongued lizard) Tiger on the Rob Joske Memorial Trophy.
